Design Background

The Arctic Cat chassis was fitted with a 600 cc Polaris Engine.  The summer 2003 senior design team, No Smoke Two Stroke, planned to modify the engine with FICHT injectors, a customized head and pistons, ECU controls, and a 45 volt electrical system. The stock Polaris engine required some modification to fit into the chassis.  The exhaust system needed the addition of a catalyst system and a more effective silencer to meet the difficult standards set by the Clean Snowmobile Competition.  The addition of twin pipes were planned to offset the expected horsepower losses within the exhaust system.
