Removable Film Layers: As the gate is opened, the top layer of film, which is covered with food particles, can be removed. This design reduces cleaning time.
"Air Hockey" Gate:Compressed air exiting the gate surface keeps food particles from contacting the gate.
Ice Gate: The gate is composed of ice, which is scraped clean as the pneumatic cylinder pulls the gate backwards.
Here are some of the concepts that we developed for this project. We started with a wide range of ideas, and narrowed it down to our final concept.
Red Prototype: Made from a silicond baking sheet, and opens when sides are compressed.
White Prototype: Two pieces of silicone with cables that are compressed for opening.
Final Prototype: One sheet of silicone with cable that deflects with compression to cause opening.
