Clarinet Reed Blank Forming Machine Design
We are designing a machine that will easily produce clarinet reed blanks for professional clarinetists who make their own reeds; the current method subjects reed-makers to exhaustive labor, and buying reeds commercially is prohibitively expensive.
The Woodwind Warriors are sponsored by Dr. Tom Hess of the University of Idaho Biological and Agricultural Engineering Department and is mentored by Dr. Jay McCormack. The design team consists four seniors from the University of Idaho: Dave Gardner (Mechanical Engineering), Jason Fitch (Mechanical Engineering), Lisa Huffman (Biological and Agricultural Engineering), and Zach Sielaff (Biological and Agricultural Engineering).
