This is the homepage of the Airbag Automaton, the automated airbag folding project sponsored by Autoliv. This project is a capstone design project for senior engineering students at the University of Idaho. This page links a collection of our project work to date.
In general, an automaton (au·tom·a·ton) is a type of robot or machine that performs human like movements or tasks. In particular, we are concerned with designing an airbag automaton for the purpose of folding airbags. This project is extensive, and requires the knowledge and skills of mechanical, electrical, and computer engineering disciplines.
