About Us

Team Safety Sniffer's goal is to develop an ultra-low power wireless sensor network that could be used by the Department of Homeland Security to detect biological, chemical, or radiological contamination of Sea-Land shipping containers. These sensors nodes will be cigarette pack sized units powered entirely by the vibrations of their environment. The network will be managed by a supervising computer that will automatically sense when a new Sea-Land container is brought within range. Successful completion of this project will provide additional security for the shipping lines of the world, and will also serve as a demonstration that devices can be produced that are powered entirely by their environment.
