Short-circuit tests were run on the new transformer.

Tests were run while short-circuiting the transformer and measuring the current in and out (to the load) of the transformer. Currents were graphed.

Initial observations:
  • Shorted phase shows higher current in and lower current out.
  • Smaller percentage shorted, the less obvious is the difference in currents.
  • The shorted current is much higher than the other currents.
  • From a 10% short, down to a 6% short, the shorted current increases--then it decreases on the 4% short.

2% short with 50 Amps of load current.
