HOME PROJECT DESCRIPTION CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT MANUFACTURING TEAM

Due in part to stringent air pollution control measures recently imposed on the outboard engines industries; Evinrude, a division of Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP), developed the industry-leading E-TEC two-stroke direct injection outboard engine. While the E-TEC is a very clean engine that meets current CARB three star standards, BRP wants to further reduce engine emissions. BRP also desires to see increased performance and fuel economy which are hindered by their current emission control strategy.

Evinrude has asked team COP, a student team from the University of Idaho, to explore options for reducing the emissions of their 863cc, 50HP, I-2 outboard motor.
