Problem Definiton

Stakeholders

Stakeholders of the Pipe Dreams senior design project include: Grangeville Country Club Golf Course Board of Directors, course superintendent Greg Stone, Pipe Dreams team instructor Dr. Thomas F. Hess, and of course the Pipe Dreams team.

Background
The original irrigation system for the Grangeville Country Club Golf Course was designed in 1961 and it's useful design life is over. The current system no longer provides adequate amounts or placement of water. Often late summer temperatures and lack of precipitation lead to the drying of the turf causing brown spots which are unbecoming aesthetically as well as dangerous for turf maintenance.

Goal
The goal is to produce working plans for a state of the art irrigation system for the Grangeville Country Club Golf Course Board of Directors, which can be submitted for federal grant consideration as well as used in the construction of the new system. The final design will include the following; evapotranspiration analysis, water and storage requirements, pipe and pump sizing, pipe placement, pumphouse design, fluid calculations, and analysis of new control technologies that could potentially reduce construction and management costs.
