Project Goals

This project seeks to establish the scientific and technical merit and feasibility of using flyhweel energy stoarge systems in support of human long-term exploration and colonization of the lunar surface. The project has two technical coordinated efforts: creation of suitable electric machinery to transfer energy to and from stoarge and building effective electronics to manage this energy storage and transfer. Our team is working on phase one of the design and will produce a basic design of the major elements that adapt terrestrial tecnology to the lunar challenge. We will also demonstrate the key elements of the electric machinery and drive electronics.

This project will also develop sustainable partnerships between the University of Idaho, NASA, and The Boeing Company.
